STEREOLAB
Preview for Bell Atlantic Jazz Festival 2000, June 3rd Show

Stereolab create the finest head music this side of the galaxy. The 'Lab's inventive mingling of their tasteful influences such as 60's French pop, 70's Krautrock and The Velvet Underground will surely give you a much-needed mental massage, so all the better that you catch the English avant popsters at this summer's Jazz Festival.
Having evolved from their title as analog drone innovators to an eclectic pop "groop" throughout their course of eight albums, numerous singles and compilations and their latest enchanting slice of an EP "First of the Microbe Hunters," (Elektra) Stereolab have kept their unique brand of streamlined, space-age pop fresh and vital. Laetitia Sadier's and Mary Hansen's aloof yet inviting, layered crooning ride the waves of bright flutters and percolating rhythms as Tim Ganes' jangling guitar cuts through arcs of Moog and Farfisa without ever competing for space in the music. Although Stereolab frequently visit bright, kitschy 60's aesthetics, their infectious tunes remain timeless.
Live, Stereolab mesmerize and will surely be the highlight of the Jazz Fest. Heads will bob to the benevolent tones emitted from the otherworldly source on the stage in a close encounter of the blissful kind. Colorful lights will flicker and pulsate with the music, as the mood subtly shifts from hypnotic droning to cool lounge to perky pop.
Turn on, tune in and drone out to Stereolab.
